Ambrosia maple never hides its marks. Gray streaks, honey lines, and patches of brown trace across pale wood — the beetle leaves its signature, and we keep it. When the burl is turned into a live edge bowl, the rim stays raw, lifting and dipping as the tree grew. No two are the same. Some are smooth and wide, others more rugged, all of them carrying the forest in their outline.
The uses shift with the size. A ten-inch bowl holds fruit or bread without fuss. Bigger ones can take on a family’s salad or sit at the center of a table, their rim drawing eyes before the food does. That edge gives the bowls a presence — a touch of drama that’s rustic, not polished.
Every piece is hand-turned in Gill, Massachusetts, from salvaged ambrosia maple. The interior is smoothed, the edge left natural, then sealed with a light, food-safe oil. Logs that might have been left to rot are reclaimed, given new life as bowls built to last.

Apply mineral oil once a month to maintain the natural beauty of the wood, except to products with our Driftwood, White Pearl, and Sea Glass finishes. These bowls are made with an acrylic food safe finish and should not be oiled.
Our mineral oil has a beeswax base that adds beauty and protection from everyday wear and tear. Beeswax conditioners help prevent wood from drying out as well as from absorbing too much moisture.
Prolonged exposure to water can cause damage; please do not submerge in water or place in the dishwasher.
Common mistakes include letting old fruit and vegetables rot at the bottom of a bowl (this may stain) and putting a bowl/board in the oven.
