The spalted maple used for these boards starts out pale and develops bold, dark markings over time. Each piece is cut from a single reclaimed slab, shaped by hand to preserve the natural character of the wood. No two boards share the same pattern.
We leave the natural contour exposed around the edge and apply a light soy-based stain to emphasize the contrast between bark and board. Finished with a food-safe oil, the surface feels smooth while still showing the grain clearly.
