Wooden Salad Bowls

Wooden salad bowls have a long place in kitchens, passed from table to table for generations. At Spencer Peterman, each one starts as a raw log, then gets turned, sanded, and finished so it can be used every day. They’re made to take on work in the kitchen and still look right when set out for guests.

Smaller wooden bowls fit a couple of servings, while the larger ones can feed a whole group. You don’t need to treat them as separate kinds of bowls — they’re all built to be used often, not stored away.

The grain gives each wooden salad bowl its character. Some deepen in tone as they’re handled, others stay pale or show fine streaks. That change is part of the appeal, a reminder that every piece of wood ages in its own way.
