This 10-inch two-tone cherry wooden bowl keeps things simple: warm cherry inside for serving, a food-safe ebonized exterior on the outside for contrast. The cherry grain shows through the interior in reds and golds; the outer surface reads deep brown to black.
We start with reclaimed New England cherry and turn each wooden bowl by hand. The ebonizing finish is applied only to the exterior; the interior is oiled, so you feel the wood itself. No two pieces take the stain the same way, which is part of the appeal.
