Description
This 10-inch spalted maple wooden bowl is the smallest in the set, but it’s often the one that gets pulled from the shelf first. It works as a small wooden salad bowl for one, a personal wood fruit bowl, or a place to keep a handful of berries close by. The pale maple is streaked with the dark lines that come from natural spalting — patterns that give every wooden bowl its own map of the tree’s history.
We work with reclaimed New England maple, wood that’s been retired or brought down by storms. Each wooden bowl is turned by hand in the shop, shaped so the grain, spalting, and live edge (when the wood allows) stay part of the story. The rim, depth, and curve are never exactly the same twice.
This small wood bowl fits in anywhere—on the table at dinner, holding a salad for one, or by the window with a few pieces of fruit. The grain and spalting shift with the light as the day moves on.
