We make these boards from spalted maple, a hardwood that begins pale and develops dark lines and markings as the tree ages. Each board starts as a single slab of reclaimed maple, shaped by hand to preserve the character of the wood. The spalting patterns vary from piece to piece, making each one different.
Around the edge, we leave the natural contour exposed and apply a light soy-based stain. This subtle contrast highlights the transition between bark and board without overpowering the grain. The surface is finished just enough to protect the wood while keeping its natural feel.
It’s a small board that moves easily around the kitchen—used for prep, serving, or left out with a few everyday items resting on top.
Hand wash with mild soap and towel dry.

Our mineral oil has a beeswax base that adds beauty and protection from everyday wear and tear. Beeswax conditioners help prevent wood from drying out as well as from absorbing too much moisture.
Prolonged exposure to water can cause damage; please do not submerge in water or place in the dishwasher.
Common mistakes include letting old fruit and vegetables rot at the bottom of a bowl (this may stain) or putting wood in the oven.
