Fifteen inches long, this large spalted/ambrosia maple harvest wooden bowl with handles is the right size for a wooden salad bowl with handles that still leaves room on the table. Its oval body and smoothly carved maple handles make it easy to pass between guests, whether it’s full of greens, bread, or a mix of both.
Each wooden oval bowl with handles begins as reclaimed New England maple. The spalting shows up as dark, wandering lines running through the light maple—marks that happen naturally over time and never repeat the same way twice. In our New England workshop, we work each bowl individually, sanding it smooth before applying a thin layer of food-safe oil. The finish protects the surface without masking the natural tone and texture of the maple.
Made for everyday use, it still finds a place in the room when it’s off duty — holding apples, keeping herbs fresh, or sitting open to the light.
