This board is cut straight across the trunk of the tree, leaving the full shape — bark, grain, and all — just as it grew. It’s rustic by nature but finished enough to feel at home in any kitchen. Each one is different, with lines and outlines that change from piece to piece.
Ambrosia maple gets its name — and its look — from the small beetles that once lived in the wood. They leave behind soft streaks and darker marks that turn the pale maple into something unexpected. Smoky ribbons, subtle curls, and warm tones give each board a story in the grain.
We take the raw slab and do just enough to make it useful. It’s shaped, sanded smooth, and treated with a food-safe oil that keeps the natural feel but stands up to daily use.
It’s thick and solid enough to take a knife, but elegant enough to leave out as a serving board. Works well as a cutting board, carving board, cheese board, or bread board — or just left out on the counter for display.
It’s the kind of board you keep in sight, use often, and never quite get tired of.
