Square Wooden Bowls

Square wooden bowls stand apart from the round and oval forms. They’re cut from oak that often shows two tones in one piece, so the shape and the wood both feel unusual. The corners give each bowl a sculptural quality, sharper and more deliberate than a curve.

This style is uncommon — only a few square wooden bowls are turned at a time. The oak may run pale on one side and darker on the other, a contrast that draws the eye even when the bowl is empty.

They can hold fruit or bread like any wooden serving bowl, but many people keep them in view as a statement of craft, a piece of woodwork that shows both design and material at once.
